WATER INTAKE AFTER WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY
Water is essential for life. Without water we can live not more than 3 days. 10% loss in water content results with severe fatigue and heat stroke, water loss of 20% can cause coma and death.
The World Health Organization recommends to drink about 2.5 liter of water per day. In hot and humid weather conditions or during heavy physical activity our water need is even higher.
Water intake is the most important issue for bariatric patients in the post-surgical period. The body needs a constant supply of water to keep its functions in balance and to protect from dehydration.
