Professor of General Surgery Aziz Sümer M.D. graduated Medical Faculty of Mediterranean University in 1997.

In 2005 He complete his specialization in Haydarpasa Numune Training and Research Hospital 2nd General Surgery Department.

In 2005 He was trained in The Endocrine and Laparoscopic surgery in Austria, working in AKH Hospital under the supervision of Prof. Bruno Niederle M.D in Section of Endocrine Surgery, Division of General Surgery of Medical University of Vienna.

In 2009 He was trained in Endocrine and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at Istanbul University General Surgical Department, section of Endocrine Surgery.

In 2010 started duty as Assistant Professor in General Surgery Department in Medical faculty of Yüzüncü Yıl University.

In 2010 He completed specialization of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Morbid Obesity Surgery (Bariatric Surgery) in Haydarpasa Numune Training and Research Hospital 2nd General Surgery Department.

In 2011 He completed specialization of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Single-incision Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at Istanbul University General Surgical Department

In 2011 He visited and participate in operating room performance with Professor Salvador Morales Conde in the studies of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia and Incisional Hernia Repair, Morbid Obesity Surgery in Virgen del Rocio University in Spain

In 2011 In France He completed IRCAD-EITS Da-Vinci Surgical System Off-Site training program for a Console Surgeon in Strasbourg and received Da Vinci Robotic System Certification.

In 2011 in Italy He visited and participated in operating room performance with Professor Roberto Tacchino in area of Laparoscopic Morbid Obesity Surgery in The Unite of Surgery, University of Cattolica Del Sacro Cuore in Rome.

In 2012 He participated in operating room performance of laparoscopic colorectal surgery and laparoscopic reparation of inguinal hernia with Prof. Dr. Pal Ondrejka and Istwan Gabor in 2. Surgical Clinic of Sommelweis University in Hungary.

29th of June 2012 he succeed exam for Associate Professor position and get the title of Associate Professor of General Surgery.

Between 2012 – 2013 He completed Organ Transplantation sub-speciality program (Kidney) at Acıbadem University, Faculty of Medicine.

In 2013 He participate in operating room performance in Obesity Department of Bezmialem University, Faculty of Medicine.

During Istanbul University's training He participated in the single-incision laparoscopic pancreas surgery and single-incision laparoscopic liver resection surgery, which were performed first in the world. At Yüzüncü Yıl University He performed also first of all advanced laparoscopic operations: laparoscopic subtotal pancreatectomy (pancreas), laparoscopic splenectomy (spleen), laparoscopic adrenalectomy (adrenal glands), laparoscopic liver hydatid cyst surgery, laparoscopic ventral hernia (incisional hernia close reparation method), laparoscopic trans-abdominal pre-peritoneal inguanial hernia repair (TAPP), laparoscopic large intestine, rectum and stomach surgeries.

In 2014 in France He had completed the training program of IRCAD-EITS Endoluminal Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery and received Certificate of Obesity and Diabetes Surgery.

In 2015 in France He had completed the training program of IRCAD-EITS Endoluminal Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery and received Certificate of Obesity and Diabetes Surgery.

In November 2017 he became Professor of General Surgery.

Professor Aziz Sümer M.D. is an author of more than 85 articles and 5 chapters of book, which have been cited and translated in more than 100 national and international journals, about 45 of them international.
